Charlie update

Charlie is fine.  It took two vet visits and a number of medications, but he basically had an upset stomach and is kind of a drama queen.  Even the vet thought it was serious because he wasn’t eating or drinking for a few days, but after an X-ray to rule out an intestinal blockage and bloodwork to rule out everything else, she sent him home with some Reglan and more anti-nausea meds.  He finally started eating this evening, although he has been drinking water and “snacking” for the last few days, mainly on cheese which was the only thing he would eat so I could give him his meds.  Not ideal when he’s having stomach issues, but no one ever said dogs would make sense.

We are counting down to Thursday when we get our new windows, and I’m so excited.  Partly because NEW WINDOWS and partly because I just want it done so I can start doing all the other things in the house I want to get done.  I bought dining room paint (walls and trim).  I got lucky and found a gallon of each as “mistake” paint at Lowe’s, so I got two gallons for $30 instead of the $100+ they would have cost if I’d picked them out, and they are basically the colors I was looking at anyway.  Well, it was still a toss-up between greens and blues, but then I found the greens and that was the deciding factor.  I’m nothing if not flexible.

Reading has been slow going lately because I’ve been so busy that by the time I get to sit down to read I’m too tired to do so.  I’m trying to get back on track and at least read a chapter a day, but sometimes it doesn’t work out.  It’s 8:40 p.m. right now and I could have fallen asleep an hour ago.  I will probably finish making my menu and grocery list for the week and then go to sleep, but I may try to finish my chapter.  I’m more than halfway through it, but this is a long book with long, dense chapters.  Good, but hard to read when you’re fighting to stay awake.

Tomorrow is Labor Day, so I’m off.  I’m picking up a Craigslist purchase coffee table, which I will need to paint to make it fit my living room, but for $30 I’m pretty sure I can find something on hand that will work.

Off to menu plan!  I’ll try to post this week’s menu tomorrow in case any of you are interested in what we’re having.

Happy Sunday!
